TikTok & ICC Launch Digital Commerce Labs to Empower Nigerian SMEs
TikTok and International Chamber of Commerce Partner to Boost Nigeria’s Digital Economy
In a significant move to support small businesses in Africa, TikTok and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have announced the launch of their joint Digital Commerce Labs program. This initiative aims to unlock digital commerce opportunities for SMEs across Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, with Nigeria being one of the initial focus markets.
The partnership leverages TikTok’s extensive reach and digital commerce tools alongside the ICC’s global trade expertise and network. Supported by Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, the Digital Commerce Labs will provide Nigerian businesses with training, mentorship, and resources to enhance revenue, expand market access, and build resilience.
Comprehensive Training Program Components
The program features a three-pronged approach:
- Community Building: Virtual and in-person sessions connecting entrepreneurs with local ecosystem partners for peer learning and networking.
- Self-Led Online Modules: Flexible training covering digital commerce tools, strategies, and best practices with certificates upon completion.
- Virtual Classrooms: Live instructor-led sessions where participants can engage directly with industry experts.
“This partnership represents a powerful step toward building a more inclusive global economy,” said John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary General of the ICC. “By equipping entrepreneurs with practical digital skills, we’re helping them translate knowledge into real growth opportunities.”
Tokunbo Ibrahim, Acting Head of Government Relations at TikTok Sub-Saharan Africa, added: “We’ve seen firsthand how businesses can thrive on our platform by connecting authentically with communities. This program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the resources they need to scale effectively.”
The Digital Commerce Labs are expected to launch in Nigeria and other select markets this spring, offering a comprehensive training experience for small business owners seeking to expand their digital footprint.
