Strategic Finance Leader Joins Mota-Engil Nigeria

Mota-Engil Nigeria has announced the appointment of Sara Pinheiro as its new Head of Treasury, bringing over a decade of commercial leadership experience to this strategic finance role.

Pinheiro’s background spans business development, strategic account management, and international markets. She holds an MBA in Marketing and a PhD in Business Development, complementing her legal training with advanced academic credentials. Her career journey reflects a long-standing interest in how businesses operate—particularly the intersection of corporate governance, financial decision-making, and capital flows.

A Full-Circle Moment

The appointment carries personal significance for Pinheiro, who grew up in Portugal where Mota-Engil was already recognized as a leader in engineering and infrastructure. “It’s remarkable to now be joining the company in a Treasury leadership position,” she noted. “I spent years building my commercial expertise, and this feels like bringing everything I’ve learned full circle.”

Pinheiro emphasized that her negotiation skills, relationship-building abilities, and experience managing pressure—developed through a decade in sales—remain highly relevant to Treasury management. “The core competencies of understanding business needs, managing risk, and making critical decisions transfer seamlessly,” she explained.

In her new role, Pinheiro will oversee key Treasury functions including liquidity management, cash-flow planning, financial risk mitigation, capital allocation, and banking relationships—supporting Mota-Engil Nigeria’s extensive operations and infrastructure project portfolio.
