Google Selects 15 AI-Driven Startups for South African Accelerator Program

Google’s New Initiative Fuels AI Innovation in South Africa

Fifteen promising startups have been selected to participate in the Google for Startups Accelerator: South Africa program, a three-month initiative aimed at fostering growth in the country’s burgeoning AI ecosystem. The selected companies will receive up to ZAR1 million (approximately US$60,000) in equity-free funding and access to Google’s advanced technologies, including hands-on experience with Gemini.

The program represents a key component of Google’s commitment to supporting 50 South African startups over the next four years (2024-2028). With over 1,000 applications received for this cohort alone, competition was fierce. The selected companies demonstrate significant potential across various sectors including education, fintech, healthcare, and supply chain management.
