Complete Farmer Founder Selected for Prestigious Endeavor Network

Desmond Koney, the founder and CEO of Complete Farmer, has been selected to join the Endeavor network—a significant milestone for Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This recognition follows a rigorous multi-stage selection process culminating in an International Selection Panel held in Athens, Greece.

Complete Farmer is an agricultural trading company connecting international buyers with smallholder farmers across Ghana and Togo. The company facilitates trade for over 72,000 farmers and supplies major retailers like Aldi and Lidl. Beyond trading, Complete Farmer has expanded into a marketplace for farm inputs and equipment, as well as offering credit products tailored to the needs of agricultural businesses.

From Engineering to Agriculture

Desmond’s journey began unexpectedly after he co-founded Cibus Technologies—a renewable energy venture—while studying mechanical engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Following his father’s passing, he inherited a pineapple farm outside Accra where he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by smallholder farmers: limited market access, inconsistent buyers, and restricted financing.

Building Infrastructure for African Farmers

The International Selection Panel—which included leaders from companies like Google, Bain Capital Ventures, and Bacardi Limited—highlighted Complete Farmer’s unique approach to combining technology with local relationships and infrastructure. Danielle Du Toit, CEO of Humanify and a panelist, noted: “Technology alone was never going to solve this problem, and Desmond understood that. The constraint isn’t demand, it’s supply.”

A Bridge for Ghanaian Entrepreneurs

Desmond views his selection as an opportunity to build beyond Complete Farmer and contribute to Ghana’s broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. “As the first Ghanaian company in the Endeavor network, this creates a bridge between our local talent and a global community of founders, investors, and business leaders,” he stated.
