Bujeti Launches Brain, an Agentic AI Platform for Finance Teams in Africa
Bujeti Introduces AI “Teammates” to Transform Financial Management for African Businesses
Nigerian fintech startup Bujeti has unveiled Brain, a new agentic AI platform designed to automate routine financial tasks and empower businesses across the continent. Following a successful two-week private beta, Brain is now generally available to all users of the comprehensive finance management platform.
Founded by Cossi Achille Arouko and Samy Chiba, Bujeti offers corporate cards with real-time controls, automated vendor payments, budgeting tools, invoicing solutions, business accounts, tax modules, payroll processing, and a mobile app—all integrated into a single system. Over 2,000 finance professionals in Nigeria and Kenya currently rely on the platform for their financial operations.
Brain provides four AI “teammates” that work collaboratively to handle various aspects of financial management:
- Fetch: Automatically finds, extracts data from, and routes invoices, receipts, and statements across multiple platforms
- Chaser: Manages invoice collections through email, SMS, and WhatsApp, including payment plan negotiations
- Watchdog: Continuously monitors transactions, vendors, and contracts for risks and upcoming renewals
- Concierge: Answers employee finance questions using company-specific policies
“Most AI finance tools require manual data entry, but Brain is different,” explains Arouko. “Bujeti built the financial ledger first, so Brain can access all relevant information in real time.” This integrated approach eliminates data silos and provides a holistic view of business finances.
Key security features ensure human oversight: no AI teammate has authority to initiate payments without approval, all actions are logged, and customer data is not used for external model training. The platform’s design prioritizes transparency and control over automation.
Looking ahead, Bujeti plans to expand Chaser’s capabilities to handle full debt and loan collections—early tests show a 3.2x recovery rate compared to manual teams—and develop the Bujeti MCP (Management Connector Platform), which will allow external AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to access and act on business financial data with appropriate permissions.
Arouko, who previously served as technical lead at Paystack, was inspired to create a modern finance solution tailored for African businesses. “We saw an opportunity to provide the same level of control and insight that American companies enjoy, but without having to hire a full CFO,” he says. The goal is simple: empower every ambitious African business with access to enterprise-grade financial management tools.
With its innovative AI capabilities and comprehensive feature set, Bujeti aims to become one of Africa’s top three financial management platforms within five years—bringing the power of a virtual CFO to businesses across the continent.
